Veterans:

The mission of the Lummi Tribal Veterans Office Program is to provide assistance to Lummi Tribal Veterans, his/her family members, and surviving dependants to identify, access and secure services and benefits from the United States Department of Veterans Affairs, as well as State and County services and benefits.

• Assist with applying for Department of Veterans Affairs, Washington State VA, and Whatcom County Veterans benefits.
• Benefits to include assisting with extensive applications for;

1. Disability Compensation
2. Home loans both on Tribal Trust land & fee land
3. Education (G.I. Bill)
4. Survivors Benefits
5. Burial (co-ordination of Honor/Color Guards), Memorial Day
6. VA Health Care
7. Transportation services (Veteran benefit related)
8. Job assistance from State Work Source Office in Whatcom County
9. Bi – Weekly Counseling (Bellingham Vet Center
10. Replacement of Medals and Discharge Paper
11.  Common Service Connected Disabilities:

• Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Do you have nightmares or intrusive thoughts about your combat experience, certain smells, or times of the year trigger thoughts of your time in the Military. Where you physically assaulted. Do you avoid big family functions, avoid other Veterans.
• Hearing Loss; Ringing in the Ears.
• Cold Weather Exposure; Frostbite to the ears, fingers, feet & toes.
• Vietnam Vets; do you have diabetes type II, certain types of cancer, skin conditions, feet & vision problems related to your diabetes.
