Water Resources Division
The mission of the Water Resources Division is
to protect the tribal treaty rights to water by managing the
quantity and quality of Lummi Nation waters both on and off of the
Reservation. This management is performed in accordance with the
Lummi Nation Codes and the policies,
priorities, and guidelines of the Lummi Indian Business Council and
includes the development and implementation of a Comprehensive Water
Resources Management Program (CWRMP). |

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON LUMMI NATION’S WATER QUALITY STANDARDS FOR SURFACE WATERS OF THE LUMMI INDIAN RESERVATION
Notice is hereby given that the Lummi Nation will hold a public hearing on May 23, 2007 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Wex li em Community Building located at 2100 Wexliem Way (off of Lummi View Drive) on the Lummi Indian Reservation to hear public comments on the Lummi Nation’s standards to protect the water quality of Reservation waters. Written comments will be accepted from April 2, 2007 until June 1, 2007 and should be sent to: ATTN: Water Resources Manager, 2616 Kwina Road, Bellingham, WA, 98226. Copies of the standards and pertinent background information are available at the Bellingham, Ferndale, and Lynden public libraries and may also be obtained by visiting the Lummi Nation website (www.lummi-nsn.gov) or by contacting the Lummi Water Resources Manager at either 360-384-2212 or at jeremyf@lummi-nsn.gov. Persons with a particular interest in the standards may contact the Lummi Water Resources Manager to request to be placed on the Interested Persons List for mailings and notifications. Those wishing to testify at the hearing will be given an opportunity to do so and should contact the Water Resources Manager by May 14, 2007 to arrange to present a statement. Directions to Wexliem |
