Job Summary
The Crisis Outreach Specialist will collaborate with the crisis outreach team.
They will be on a weekly rotation answering the crisis phone during normal business hours. This
position will work collaboratively with their team to indigenize the way the Lummi Behavioral
Health Department responds to crisis. An ongoing goal will be to assess and assess and strengthen
our outreach and crisis response. They will be required to do peer support counseling for clients in
crisis, this could include community outreach and/or working on cultural arts and projects in the
office or during therapeutic groups. The Crisis Outreach Specialist will support ongoing efforts to
improve the integration of health services provided by medical providers, harm reduction staff,
public health, mental health clinicians, substance use disorder counselors, recovery coaches and
peer support counselors, and other social services. This position will work collaboratively with staff
from multiple programs including Behavioral Health, Lummi Counseling Services, and Lummi
Tribal Health Clinic. The Crisis Outreach Specialist will be based primarily at the Lummi
Behavioral Health Department, but may spend time at the Lummi Clinic, Lummi Counseling
Services, Opioid Treatment Program, and in the community to support a holistic patient care model.
The Crisis Outreach Specialist may directly assess for and provide peer support counseling and will
provide temporary counseling services until a client in crisis is linked with a Licensed Mental
Health Clinician. This position may require flexible work hours based on the services needed within
the Lummi Nation, however the schedule will normally be Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m.-4:30
p.m.
