Job Summary
Position ensures the compliance of zoning related ordinances, public nuisance
abatements, building codes, property maintenance, abandoned and inoperable vehicles and other
issues relating to the health, safety, and general welfare of the community for public, and private
residential, commercial, and industrial property; demonstrates a full understanding of all applicable
policies, procedures and work methods associated with assigned duties; and performs related duties
as required.
The Solid Waste Manager will provide support services to the Lummi Indian Business Council
(LIBC) Health Officer to manage solid waste effectively and efficiently on the Lummi Indian
Reservation (Reservation). The Manager will work to further the four goals of the 2024 Lummi
Nation Integrated Solid Waste Management Plan (ISWMP): to decrease illegal solid waste dumping
on the Reservation, to ensure convenient and reliable services for disposing solid waste, to educate
and involve Reservation residents, and to obtain funding for solid waste management services,
facilities, and enforcement actions. Duties will include cleaning up and controlling access to
unlawful dump sites, investigating complaints of unlawful dumping, conducting annual Community
Clean Up events, developing, and implementing educational materials and events to promote solid
waste removal and recycling, coordinating, and encouraging the use of curb-side pickup, and
obtaining funding for the Division’s operation.
