Job Summary
Under the supervision of senior Fisheries Management Biologists, the Fisheries
Biologist I-II will lead or play a supporting role in several field sampling and data collection projects
that contribute to the management of fish and shellfish for the Lummi Nation. The Fisheries Biologist
will plan, organize, and carry out biological sampling of salmon and halibut harvested during
commercial, subsistence, ceremonial, and assessment fisheries, and participate in monitoring and
assessing shellfish populations. The Fisheries Biologist will provide technical and administrative
support to regular fisheries management activities including data entry, catch accounting and harvest
summaries, outreach to the Lummi fishing community, and participating in fisheries management
meetings. The incumbent will supervise LNR field technicians and/or interns participating in fishery
sampling projects. This position may require irregular working hours (evenings or weekends) to fulfill
sampling duties. The position is grant funded and will end June 30, 2024; extension is possible with
procurement of additional funding. This position is eligible for health and retirement benefits.
