Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Intertidal Shellfish Biologist and Shellfish Biologist
I, the Field Technician will be responsible for conducting clam biomass surveys following Lummi
Natural Resources’ beach specific survey design. Surveys will entail walking long distances (>1
mile), carrying field gear and samples (>50 lbs.) for extended periods of time, and sampling a specific
area of beach by digging the quadrat area with a rake and identifying and measuring shellfish in the
sample area. The Field technician will also be responsible for recording data in the field and taking
detailed legible notes. The incumbent will be working in a semi-remote area with a team of 4-8 people.
The successful Field Technician will be reliable, possess strong organization skills, attention to detail
and self-motivation. The incumbent will work a variable schedule between May 14th, 2026, through
July 31st, 2026, and can expect to work 8-40 hours every other week. The position will conclude when
the clam survey has been completed. This role is not eligible for health and retirement benefits.
