Food Workers Relief Program
Lummi fishers eligible for a one-time $600 payment from the USDA Farm and Food Workers Relief Program.
- TO BE ELIGIBLE:
- A fisher must be an enrolled tribal member.
- A fisher must have crewed on another boat and been paid by the boat owner to do so. Fishers that only fished and sold their own catch are not eligible.
- Work was performed between January 27, 2020 and May 11, 2023.
- Fisher was at least 18 years old when work was performed.
- TO APPLY:
- You can prepare and submit the application on your own. Assistance from LNR staff is not needed.
- Follow the instructions on the Cherokee Nation's website
- The application process can be completed online, on the Cherokee Nation's website.
- When filling out the application, input 'Farmworker (Livestock)' as your profession and '45-2093' as the SOC code.
- You will need to have the boat owner that paid you fill out the Employer Verification Form found HERE
- The boat owner does not need to provide an Employer Identification Number but will need to provide their Social Security Number.
- The Employer Verification Form will need to be printed, signed by the boat owner and uploaded as part of the application process.
- THE APPLICATION DEADLINE IS DECEMBER 31, 2024!!
