Working together to Preserve, Promote and Protect our Sche Lang en

Emily graduated from Western Washington University in 2023 with a BA in Physical Geography and minors in Environmental Science and GIS. Prior to working for Lummi Natural Resources, she gained experience through an internship with King County doing program management and communications in floodplain risk reduction for a Capital Project on the Lower White River. Following graduation, Emily landed a job as a European Green Crab Scientific Technician for WDFW, conducting early detection monitoring and control/removal trapping efforts around the Salish Sea region. This position provided strong field work skills that continue to support her current role working in intertidal environments.

As a Shellfish Biologist I within Harvest Management, Emily provides technical and administrative support to senior-level biologists in monitoring and assessing shellfish populations within the Lummi Nation's usual and accustomed (U&A) fishing grounds and stations. Her duties include leading annual Manila clam biomass surveys, coordinating commercial opportunities, routine biotoxin monitoring and other projects that aim to gain a better understanding of tideland habitat resiliency. Emily also supports dive survey work, Dungeness crab larval and juvenile studies, and assistance to other LNR divisions if needed.
