Clara joined the Lummi Natural Resources team in 2022 as the Intertidal Shellfish Biologist. In this role she works to ensure intertidal shellfish, including Manila clams, are harvested at a maximum sustainable level. This is accomplished by conducting annual clam biomass surveys, generating commercial quotas, routine biotoxin monitoring, and coordinating clam harvest opportunities. In addition, she pursues grant funding to identify, develop and implement adaptive management strategies for intertidal shellfish populations under current and future environmental conditions.
