Whatcom Waterway Map

New for 2023:
Whatcom Waterway is open the same days/hours as Bellingham Bay

The Whatcom Creek Hatchery has started a fall Chinook program which come from excess eggs produced at the Samish River Hatchery. The forecast for Whatcom Creek is 5,000+ Chinook. These fish are intended for harvest and are not needed for broodstock. This is a wipeout fishery. Therefore, we have opened the Whatcom Waterway up to the Roeder Ave bridge to make these fish more available for harvest. Fishing inside the Roeder Ave bridge is closed to commercial fishing but a subsistence fishery in that area may be occur if fish stack up in the area.

Be aware that the waterway is actively used by commercial ships. Please use caution.
